Saturday in the Premier League: every goal, one page

Seven played, seven won, and a milestone that puts Haaland's scoring in a category of its own. City's start is perfect. The injury list that came with it is not.

Saturday's headline was a number: 100. Erling Haaland's second goal in Manchester City's 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at the Etihad was his 100th non-penalty Premier League goal, reached in a record 139 appearances. Strip out the penalties and the picture sharpens: this is not a striker padding a total from the spot. It is open-play output at a rate the league has never seen.

The game itself was less comfortable than the milestone suggests. Phil Foden opened the scoring, Daizen Maeda equalised, and Haaland struck on 34 and 69 minutes to restore control, before a stoppage-time penalty from Flemming made the finish nervous. That late wobble tells you something about this City side: dominant for long stretches, still capable of letting a game breathe at the wrong moment.

The records belong to the manager as much as the striker. Enzo Maresca has become the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games in charge, City have won seven from seven for the best start in the club's history, and they sit six points clear. Doing all of that while a verdict on 114 charges hangs over the club is the real story of the autumn so far.

The cost was visible at the end. Haaland limped straight down the tunnel before saying he was fine, and Kovačić, Nunes, O'Reilly and Semenyo were also hurt. How many of those knocks linger will matter more than the milestone by next weekend. The rest of this one, Chelsea's 2-0 win at Everton, Neto's double and the verdict that framed it all, is covered in full in our match report.
