The Indeks (theindeks.com) is a news and analysis website. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, and what is done with it.

What we collect

We do not run accounts and we do not ask you to register. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and we use them only to reply. If you subscribe to The Briefing, we keep your email address for the sole purpose of sending it, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Cookies and advertising

No advertisements are being served on this site yet. Our application to Google AdSense is in review, and the AdSense code is present on our pages so that Google can review the site. If the application is approved, advertising served by Google AdSense will appear on this site, and from that point the rest of this section applies in full. From that point: third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and Google's use of advertising cookies will enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits. You will be able to opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ads Settings, and out of many third-party vendors' cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative's opt-out page. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) for security and aggregate statistics.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links, in a clearly labelled box headed "The Gear in This Story". If you buy through one of those links, The Indeks may earn a commission from the retailer, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect what we cover, what we say about a product or how a story is written; products appear in the box because they are part of the story, and our coverage stays independent of any affiliate relationship.
