Sources, credits and fair use
Every story cited, every photo credited, nothing lifted. These are the rules every Indeks story is published under, on this site and everywhere else we post.
Every story is cited
Each story on this page carries a Sources line naming the reporting it is built from, with a link where the source can be read freely. Stories are checked against at least two reputable outlets, or a primary record, before they are published; where a story rests on a single wire report, that report stands alone in its Sources line, named as what it is. Where reports conflict, we say so or leave the detail out.
Our words, not theirs
Stories are summarised and explained in our own words. Article text is never copied; a direct quotation appears only where the exact words matter, kept short and attributed to the person who said them and the outlet that reported them. Facts and figures are credited to the organisation that produced them, whether that is a regulator's report, a company's filings or a newsroom's reporting.
Photographs are credited where due
Every photograph carries its credit under the image: the photographer or agency, and the licence where one applies. We publish our own photographs, freely licensed images, official handouts and credited pictures from clubs and institutions. A file photo is labelled as a file photo, captioned with what it actually shows, and never presented as a picture of the event being reported.
Rights holders
If you hold the rights to anything published here and would like a credit corrected, a link added or an image removed, write to [email protected] and we will put it right promptly.
