Nvidia's RTX Spark laptops are on sale, from $2,599

Nine machines from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI went on sale Friday, and they are not just laptops with a better graphics chip. Each pairs a 20-core Grace CPU built with MediaTek with a Blackwell RTX GPU and up to 128GB of unified memory. Nvidia is selling a new kind of PC.

Nvidia's RTX Spark laptops went on sale on Friday: nine machines from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft and MSI, with prices starting at $2,599. It is Nvidia's first full PC platform, and the ambition matters more than any single model. Nvidia no longer just wants to supply the graphics card inside someone else's computer. It wants to be the computer.

Each machine pairs a 20-core Grace CPU, developed with MediaTek, with a Blackwell RTX GPU of up to 6,144 CUDA cores, and both draw on a single pool of up to 128GB of unified memory. Nvidia rates the platform at up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI compute. The memory is the pitch. Because the pool is shared and large, Nvidia says these laptops can run models of more than 120 billion parameters on the device itself, with no cloud involved. That is a workload that normally lives in a data centre, squeezed into a machine you can carry under one arm.

The pricing tells you who it is for. Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,599, with a 128GB configuration at $5,899.99, and ASUS's ProArt P16 tops out at $6,999.99. Adobe's Photoshop and Premiere have been optimised for the platform, a sign the software side is taking it seriously, and compact RTX Spark desktops follow in November.

Unveiled by Jensen Huang at Computex earlier this year, RTX Spark is Nvidia aiming at the whole machine rather than the graphics card inside it, taking on Apple, Qualcomm, Intel and AMD at once. Whether it wins will depend on software and battery life more than on the spec sheet. But the direction is unmistakable: the AI PC is becoming a fight over the entire computer, and Nvidia has decided to be in it.

ASUS Ascent GX10
The desktop end of the same idea: ASUS's box around the GB10 Grace Blackwell chip, with the full 128GB of unified memory in a chassis the size of a paperback. It runs Nvidia's Linux-based DGX OS rather than Windows, which makes it a developer machine first and a Spark sibling second.

Nvidia's own reference version of the GB10 desktop, and the machine every partner box gets measured against. Same chip, same memory pool; the founders edition is the one to watch for stock and pricing signals across the whole Spark family.
